I hope you’re having a lovely July! I’m just sitting over here waiting for my neighbors to stop shooting off illegal fireworks for weeks on end, so I can stop being a doggie therapist for my German Shepherd every evening. I’m still getting back into the swing of things on the blog, with several transitions in my life at the moment. Though I'm excited to have more time for work in the coming months, and I have some great brands I'm testing for July that I'd love to share with you. I'm happy to have several eco-conscious brands in the latest edit, because this month is Plastic Free July, a global movement which challenges all of us to reduce single-use plastics in the different areas of our everyday lives. I've been very conscious about single-use plastics in my beauty routine, and I'm thrilled that Cris's Blends has created a plastic-free alternative when it comes to deodorant sticks. Their Zero-Waste Cardboard Tube Deodorants are natural and cruelty-free; and they come in scents like Basil and Cypress, Lavender, and Geranium and Ylang Ylang.
Also in keeping with plastic-free July, the products at Apothecary Co. come in reusable, recyclable glass containers. I've previously had the pleasure of testing products from their aromatherapy line, and this month I get to try several items in their recently-expanded natural skincare line. From an AHA + Pumpkin Enzyme mask and a Rosehip + Willow Bark serum to their gentle cleansing milk and a Rosehip + Calendula Facial Glow Oil, my skin is in for a major treat!
In an effort to reduce plastic waste in the ocean, a Montreal-based brand called BKIND has created a line of Nourishing Hand Balms which are packaged in tubes made of 50% ocean-bound plastic. This recycled raw material is made from plastic waste that is in risk of ending up in the oceans. Thanks to my Petit Vour Box, I’ve been sampling the BKIND Nourishing Hand Balm in Rose and Geranium. It has a relaxing subtle floral fragrance and is so moisturizing. I love that everything in my monthly Petit Vour subscription is always cruelty-free and includes such interesting indie beauty brands.
I tend to avoid the main beauty subscription boxes, because they don't exclusively feature cruelty-free, but I didn't want to pass up the chance to try the GLOSSYBOX Summer Essentials 2020 Limited Edition Box. Here is a peek at what comes in this box:
• Proenza Schouler Arizona Eau De Parfum valued at $15
• Oribe Apres Beach Wave And Shine Spray valued at $10
• Tangle Teezer Fine & Fragile Detangling Hairbrush valued at $12
• Becca Cosmetics Liquid Crystal Glow Gloss valued at $22
• Skin Glow London Glow Eye Mask valued at $10
• Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream valued at $5.99
• Velvet Eyewear Sunglasses valued at $55
• Supersmile Professional Extra Whitening System valued at $12
During any unboxing or reviews of this beauty box, I'll be sure to mention which items are cruelty-free and which ones aren't. The GLOSSYBOX Summer Essentials 2020 Limited Edition Box is currently available for purchase. Use code KRISZTINA for 22% OFF!
