My skin has been completely clear this last month, as in not a single blemish on my face, and that is thanks to Lilly Sage Apothecary. Owners Janet and Carol have been BFFs since 1990 and formed the handcrafted bath and body brand, a long-time dream of theirs, in 2017. Carol had been making soaps and other body care products for many years, but never approached them commercially, while Janet owned one of the first Aveda concept day spas in the country and built a career working around natural skin care and personal care products.
When their dream of starting a business together finally came to fruition, the name of the brand was just as significant. Lilly Sage was the name Janet, as a young woman, picked to give a baby girl, though Janet was blessed with a boy, so lovely Lilly Sage had to wait to be born as an LLC in 2017. She was worth the wait. A shared love of the ritual of bath and a drive to make others happy has become a full line of soap, lotions, and potions
I’ve had the pleasure of testing two products from Lilly Sage this month, and they were both equally impressive. As I mentioned above, their Charcoal & Cedarwood Bar Soap has kept my skin completely clear of blemishes. The biggest benefit of charcoal in skincare is just that - it deeply cleanses and detoxifies, can help combat excessive oil, and can quickly treat blemishes.
The addition of cedarwood provides both antiseptic and anti-inflammatory benefits. That combined with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and aloe vera provide soothing relief. I love that it’s in a soap bar, so I can use it head to toe in the shower. A charcoal soap is an excellent way to fight skin blemishes that often occur on the upper arms and back as well as on the face.
The Charcoal & Cedarwood Soap is priced at $9.00 for a 4.5oz bar, which is a really great deal considering mine has lasted me all month, and I still have some left.
The other item I tried from Lilly Sage Apothecary was their all-natural deodorant, and I was so happy with it! I love the easy applicator and the beautiful packaging, and of course that it’s all-natural. It’s phthalate-free, talc-free, aluminum-free, and paraben-free and made with natural ingredients like shea butter, arrowroot, vitamin E, and essential oils. And just like every product I feature here on the blog, it’s also cruelty-free. The deodorant is available in their original formula with baking soda, or in their Sensitive formula, which is made with magnesium hydroxide instead of baking soda.
As impressed as I was by the effectiveness of this natural deodorant (even through my workouts), I was even more impressed by the scent. I’ve tested several all-natural deodorants, and they’ve each had a bit of an earthy scent to them, which I’m not a big fan of. This Lilly Sage Apothecary natural deodorant smells so good! They’ve formulated the scent with natural citrus oils that help add to the bacteria and odor-fighting properties; and the result is a fresh, clean, and citrus scent that I absolutely love!
The convenient twist-up tube is priced at $12.00 for one or $32.00 for 3. Trust me, you are going to want three! You can shop via the links below, and feel free to leave any questions in the comments section.
