Welcome to another editor’s picks post! These are a few of my favorites from the past month, and you can find links to all of them below. October was one of my busiest months yet. While the holiday pressure is fully on already, I’m hoping that means December will be much less stressful. It would be nice to relax and enjoy the holidays.
As the busy shopping season increases, it’s even more important to take some time for self care. I learned the hard way last week that if you push your body too far, it will eventually revolt and will force you to take a break. It's not that I didn't already know that. I'm a wellness editor after all. It's that I felt so obligated to increased work-related pressures that I chose to ignore it.
Although I mentioned on Instagram recently that self care isn’t always about a face mask...that sometimes it means ignoring emails and pushing back deadlines when you're feeling overwhelmed. However it certainly can involve some pampering skincare time too.
The key is to make it both a regular practice and to make time for it every day, even if all you have time for is a face mask during a short break and some deep relaxation breathing as you go to sleep. My favorite way to relax in the evening, aside from a cup of tea and T.V. shows in bed; is with an elaborate facial care routine, some body butter or body oil on my legs, and a convenient pair of under-eye masks.
My skincare routine this past month included a gemstone facial roller (as always) and this Nami Naturale REJUVENATE Face Oil. Made with organic oils including Camellia, Rosehip, Jojoba, and Avocado Oil; it's incredibly hydrating. With the addition of Evening Primrose, Calendula, and Blackcurrant CO2 Extracts as well as Vitamins A and E; the result is a nourishing skin-food face oil that is high in essential fatty acids omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, gamma-linoleic acid, antioxidants, polyphenols, and retinoid.
A rich and luxurious face oil like this paired with my favorite Rose Quartz roller takes my skincare routine from a chore to a relaxing ritual I look forward to each evening. I may not always make time for a relaxing bath, or even a shower for that matter, but something I always devote time to in the evenings is T.V. time. I might as well multi-task and use that time for some self care too.
This relaxing facial care routine is followed up with the House of Rhone Hydrating Eye Recovery Mask with Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid. The retinol works long term to fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while the collagen and hyaluronic acid provide an instant plumping effect. It's a gentle non-irritating formula that is suitable for all skin types.
What I really love about these eye patches is the minimal ingredient list. Most hydrogel eye patches come with a long list of harmful artificial ingredients, but these have a short and for the most part natural ingredient list. I love to keep mine in the fridge for a soothing and cooling effect that also combats puffiness. In addition to the collagen amino acids, the essence that comes with these eye patches contains grape seed extract, which has the added benefit of increasing your own skin's collagen production.
With so many incredible new holiday body care sets from L’BRI PURE n' NATURAL, I’ll be switching up my body butter routine just a bit. For example, their soothing Rejuvenating Foot Cream, which comes in the L'BRI Ultimate Spa Collection is the perfect cream to use for a little foot massage.
For some truly indulgent self care, I can't wait to use their holiday exclusive Aloe-Infused Sock Set. Like I said, it’s been a rough few weeks. When I’m finished filming and photographing these body care sets, I’m going to make them a part of my evening T.V. time for sure!
