The Beauty Edit: Wrapping Up Summer

I’m just as much in shock as you are that it’s almost September already. I know, we all say that every single month, ”Where did last month go?!” But seriously, where the hell did August go? It went by so quickly, that it's almost time for another beauty edit after I post this one. I did spend a good week and a half with the flu, so I'm just now catching all the way up on content, including this Beauty Edit featuring some more of my Summer favorites. So let's just get right into it!

I tested a few new natural deodorants this summer because naturally we all sweat more during hot humid weather. One of the deodorants I tried this summer was from Be Well Company. Their 100% natural deodorant, called The Best Deodorant, comes in liquid form in a convenient spray bottle. I very much enjoyed the convenience of that, because let's face it, when it’s this hot we don’t just sweat under our arms. But who wants to use the same stick deodorant on all of those different places. I certainly don’t. I appreciated having the ability to just spritz on the Be Well deodorant wherever I needed it, whenever I needed it.

Made partially with live probiotics, rosewater, and a blend of organic essential oils; it's very effective at eliminating odor, and I love the natural fresh scent. It has a slight floral scent but not so much that it smells overtly feminine. Not gonna lie...I liked the scent so much that I've also used it as a linen mist several times.

Another staple in my Summer beauty routine is a good foot cream, so I can keep my skin in good shape for wearing sandals and when spending time at the pool. Sometimes I’ll just use whichever body moisturizer I have on hand at the moment, but I love it when I get to review a thick conditioning cream made specifically for hands and feet, because the skin on the feet is much thicker than anywhere else on the body.

The Lisa32 Miracle Foot Balm, made with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil, kept the skin on my feet very soft and healthy-looking. The addition of MSM, spearmint, and peppermint provided a soothing sensation and pain relief at the end of the day when my feet are always tired and aching

When it came to makeup this summer, I definitely had a few new favorites. In a recent Petit Vour monthly beauty box, I received the Maximum Intensity Vegan Mascara from Sappho New Paradigm, and I’ve been very impressed. It hasn’t completely dethroned my all-time favorite mascara - the Essence I love Extreme Curl & Volume Mascara - because that mascara curls and lengthens better than anything I’ve tried so far, but this Sappho mascara came pretty close and without the allergic reaction I tend to get with most mascaras. I really like the shape of this mascara wand too. It’s very long and thin, so it’s easy to get into the corners of the lash line and also helps with coating the lower lashes. If you have sensitive eyes and are looking for a good vegan cruelty-free mascara, I definitely suggest giving this one a try.

No matter what time of year it is I’m always up for testing new lip balms, so I was thrilled when Eco Lips sent me a very large selection of lip balms and lip scrubs to try. To me what makes a great lip balm, rather than just a good one, is a balm that will moisturize, condition, and is long-lasting as well. With ingredients like mongongo oil in their Mongo Kiss lip balm to cocoa seed butter and beeswax in the Lip Food Lip Balm; I found their products both moisturizing and long-lasting. Even better, the Eco Lips lip balms include packaging made with over 40% post-consumer recycled materials, and the ingredients are ethically-sourced.

The Mongo Kiss lip balm is best if you prefer a scented/flavored moisturizing lip balm. My favorite there was their Blood Orange Mongo Kiss lip balm. It has a wonderful sweet orange scent. The Lip Food lip balm is more about function; with options including their Nourish, Plump, or Protect balm. My favorite of those is the Lip Food Plump Rosemary Mint plumping lip balm. It's more effective than most peppermint plumping lip balms I've tried, but it doesn't burn like the Too Faced Lip Injection plumper for example. For a hint of color, the Eco Lips Brazilian Vegan Lip Tint (available in several different shades) is just as moisturizing, with several natural plant-based oils.

I hope you've enjoyed this edition of the Beauty Edit, and thanks for stopping by! The August Edit is coming next week. In the meantime, I'd love to know what your Summer beauty favorites were. Let me know in the comment section below.
