Nude nail polish is one of the top nail color trends every spring and summer and serves as a classic, timeless neutral year round. Seeing all of those manicures in delicate pale shades always makes me wish I could pull it off, but with my olive skin tone, I'm always on the lookout for a nude nail polish that looks better with my skin tone. When I tried Sinful Colors in Vacation Time, I was pleasantly surprised at how great it looked. Turns out there are a lot of nude nail colors out there that look great on darker skin tones. The Vacation Time shade is currently unavailable, though there are several similar options, like this Essie Nail Polish in Lady Like.
These nude polishes by ZOYA are perfect examples of what to look for in a nude shade if you have darker skin. The idea isn't necessarily to pick a darker neutral tone. You may not want it to just blend into your skin, and if you prefer feminine colors, you may not want a pure brown polish. Pick something that has some color to it. A darker nude with either a purplish tint, like the ZOYA Normani or a darker nude with a pinkish tint, like the ZOYA Brigitte (pictured) are both excellent examples and my personal favorites!
If however you're not a big fan of the pink or purple undertones and would prefer a more brown-based dark nude, try one of the OPI Browns. Pictured: OPI You Don't Know Jacques. The slick glossy finish will keep that shade from looking dull.
As you can see in the previous pic, a fair amount of contrast is just as beautiful, so I think any of these would also look beautiful on lighter skin tones as well. Personally I'm thinking the Essie for Spring/Summer, the Zoya for Fall, and that gorgeous OPI brown for winter. You can shop these darker nude nail polishes via the links at the end of the post.
